James McCaffrey, best known for voicing Max Payne and various other characters in Remedy games (most recently Alex Casey in Alan Wake 2), has unfortunately passed away at the age of 65 from bone marrow cancer.
I'm glad McCaffrey got the chance to work with Remedy at least one more time before passing, and fittingly his final vocal performance was playing a character modeled after Sam Lake. With him now gone, though, I will confess this has me curious what Remedy will do with the upcoming remakes of the first two Max Payne games. Most likely they'll just re-use all of McCaffrey's dialogue from the original games unaltered, similar to how the Medieval remake reused the original VA work from the 1998 original. At least I hope so, it feels like it'd be a fitting send off to an iconic VA to have two of his most famous performances preserved for modern audiences.
