Beans are a seed used for animal and human food. Online, multiple memes involving beans have spread, usually in shitposts.

History

The word "bean" has existed in Western languages since before the 12th century.^[1] Beans are one of history's longest-cultivated plants, having appeared in Thailand as far back as the early seventh millennium BCE. In the Americas, the earliest beans were found in Peru in the second millennium BCE. There are 40,000 different species of beans, though only a few are fit for consumption. They are high in protein, complex carbohydrates, folate, and iron and have often been used as a source of protein in herbivore diets. Many edible beans contain oligosaccharides, which are responsible for the association beans have with flatulence. This was famously parodied in a scene from the Mel Brooks film Blazing Saddles (1974).

I;m Thinking About Thos Beans (sic) is an intentionally misspelled catchphrase often used in tandem with an image featuring baked beans, specifically the American canned bean brand Bush. The phrase is used in shitposting. On July 23rd, 2015, Bill Foster, a former Waco, Texas newspaper reporter who now works as a sales and marketing associate, used his Facebook to comment "I;m thinking about thos beans" on the official profile of Bush's Baked Beans. As of October 19th, 2015, the post has received 174 likes and 153 shares.

Things Filled With Beans That Shouldn't Be is a photo fad featuring pictures of various objects with baked beans poured inside of them. On February 12th, 2017, a Facebook page titled "Things full of beans that shouldn't be full of beans" was created, which highlights photographs of various objects filled entirely with baked beans. Within three months, the page gained over 187,000 likes.

This Nigga Eating Beans is a copypasta and catchphrase based on a deleted tweet by Twitter user @alaskancarl1. The full text reads, "I spilled baked beans all over myself watching Cars 2 in theaters & a black teenager shouted 'this nigga eating beans' & everyone laughed." Online, people post either the full text verbatim or just the phrase "this nigga eating beans," which serves as the punchline to various jokes. On June 20th, 2017, Twitter user @alaskancarl1 tweeted, "I I spilled baked beans all over myself watching Cars 2 in theaters & a black teenager shouted 'this nigga eating beans' & everyone laughed." Before being deleted, the post (shown below) received more than 10,000 retweets and 28,000 likes.

You Eat All My Beans, Nigga? refers to a YouTube video in which the line is said over a commercial for Bush's Beans. The audio was then used in myriad different videos on YouTube, becoming a remix meme. On April 26th, 2016, YouTuber RandomGuyGamingHD uploaded a clip of a Bush's Beans commercial edited to have a toy scream the line "You eat all my beans, nigga?" The video gained over 360,000 views (shown below).

What's In a Can of Del Monte's Green Beans

What's In a Can of Del Monte Green Beans? is a quote from a Del Monte Green Beans advertisement, where the narrator asks the question before opening a can of green beans. On YouTube, users have humorously edited the ad to replace what's in the can of green beans. The original Del Monte Green Beans ad (shown below) was uploaded to YouTube on November 6th, 2013. It received over 11,000 views by July 2018.

On October 7th 2017, YouTuber ⌠VorTep⌡ uploaded a clip of the ad, with the inside of the can being replaced with a greenscreen (shown below, left). It received over 3,000 views and 100 likes in under a year. On February 4th, 2018, YouTuber Imhotep uploaded the first known parody edit of the clip (shown below, right), in which the inside of the can was replaced with a Vsauce clip. The video got over 600 views and 20 likes in about 5 months. Imhotep credited Twitter user @SpingebillGuy for the original greenscreen, although it does not seem to have been posted there.

/r/AskReddit Thread Raid

On June 24th, 2019, Redditor WrongWrites^[2] posted a thread to /r/AskReddit asking, "What is something inexpensive everyone should splurge on?", gaining over 54,000 points. Redditor melikepi27^[3] posted the word "beans," gaining over 23,000 points (shown below).

This led to many in the thread to spam the comments with the answer "Beans." Other users would reply, "Damn what kind" (examples shown below). The thread was inquired about in /r/OutOfTheLoop, gaining over 1,400 points.^[4]
