More memes about "1 Day Blinding Stew" or "blinding soup" spread soon after. The concept of a stew causing a temporary blinding effect may be a reference to "Suspicious Stew," an item in the video game Minecraft.
Origin
On January 30th, 2024, X[1] user @truewagner posted an image of a flyer stuck to a wooden pole on which the heading reads, "How To 'Punish' My Daughter?" The poster goes on to explain that it was made by a single dad looking for advice on how to get his young daughter to stop biting his hair. All the handwritten responses to the poster recommend that the father feed his daughter "stew that blinds her for a day." The post gathered over 7.9 million views and 180,000 likes in a day (seen below).

The aforementioned flyer was reposted to Reddit's /r/oddlyspecific[3] on January 30th, 2024, where it gathered over 6,000 likes in a day.
Also on January 30th, X[2] user @moonboi_ posted an edited Wikipedia page for "Perpetual 1-day blinding stew," gathering over 53,000 likes in a day (seen below). X[5] user @TheRealNeoThe quoted the post speculating that such a stew may be what Steve from Minecraft finds in shipwrecks.[6]
