Day In The Life Vlogs also known by their variations Weekend In The Life and Adult Daycare are a type of vlog-style video that was popularized on YouTube and has continued onto TikTok and Instagram. The video format is also known for depicting hyper-curated and aspirational idealized lifestyles, typically in a major city and in the consulting or tech industry. The trend has also been parodied by vloggers and video content creators in recent years.
Origin
The "Day In The Life" vlog format has been a constant of internet video content creator culture since YouTube's nascent years. On July 26th, 2008, YouTube[1] channel 4ThirtyMusic posted a video titled, "A Day in the Life Vlog #1." The video has gathered over 400 views in the 14 years since its upload (seen below).
The "Day In The Life" vlogging style was also popularized by early YouTube[2] content creators like AmazingPhil and DanIsNotOnFire. On March 17th, 2012, AmazingPhil uploaded a YouTube video called "A Day in the Life of Phil and Dan!" The video has gathered over 4 million views and over 180,000 likes in 10 years (shown below).
The video format continued to grow in popularity as social media became more ubiquitous, with people with more mainstream jobs posting vlogs about their corporate jobs and city lives.
On June 27th, 2022, TikToker @natasha.badger uploaded a now-deleted video entitled, "Day in the life of a 23 year old living in Chicago working in the tech industry." The video gathered over a million plays and has since been reposted to Twitter[3] by @DavidSachs on August 20th (seen below). The Twitter post has gathered over 40,000 likes in 10 days.

On May 2nd, 2022, TikToker[4] @codey_james posted a video titled, "Weekend in the life of a 26 year old in NYC." The video showed Codey, a young tech professional working for Reddit on one of his company-mandated "mental health days," where he spent his weekend visiting friends, restaurants and shows. The upload gathered over 100,000 plays and over 3,000 likes in nearly four months (seen below).

On August 19th, TikToker[6] @patricia.lin1 posted a video titled "Day In My Life In Texas As A Consultant," gathering 98,000 plays and 3,000 likes in nearly 10 days (seen below).
