Every Third Hetero Couple and The Most Racist Man Alive refers to a webcomic depicting a white heterosexual couple in which the woman is asking, "Did you check out that salon article I sent everyone?" and the man is wearing a grey t-shirt that reads, "THE MOST RACIST MAN ALIVE." The comic is meant to satirize white heterosexual couples in which the men are covert racists. The comic was widely shared on social media platforms like Twitter / X in the early 2020s because people saw truth in its portrayal and used it as a reaction image in discourse related to its claim. Others bought "The Most Racist Man Alive" shirts and showcased them online.

Origin

On March 12th, 2023, X^[1] user @RavenLynClemens tweeted an original cartoon that depicted a white man and woman labeled "Every Third Hetero Couple" (shown below, left). The woman is seen asking, "Did you check out that salon article I sent everyone?" and the man is shown wearing a grey t-shirt that reads, "THE MOST RACIST MAN ALIVE." @RavenLynClemens captioned the comic, "why are they all like this," receiving over 26,200 likes in a day (shown below, right). @RavenLynClemens later deleted the tweet.

Spread

@RavenLynClemens' tweet gained viral replies, like one shared by X^[1] user @HuevosSr on March 12th, 2023 (since-deleted), that read, "She's at the bottom of a multilevel marketing scam and he's an undercover cop with 7 citations in 2018," gaining over 2,000 likes in a day (shown below).

On March 13th, 2023, X^[2][3] user @CovfefeAnon replied with, "Do you sell that t-shirt?" gaining over 1,000 likes in a year (shown below, left). A screenshot of @CovfefeAnon's reply was reposted on /pol/ ^[4] on March 15th, 2023, and then posted to /r/OkBuddyRetard by Redditor^[5] Not_E22 on March 16th, gaining over 3,900 upvotes in a year.

@RavenLynClemens gained hate and backlash from other X users, likely resulting in the self-deletion of her post. For instance, on March 13th, 2023, X^[6] user @author_pandp posted a screenshot of their own quote that called @RavenLynClemens a "lesbian femcel," receiving over 5,200 likes in one year (shown below, right).

Memes and reposts also spread on iFunny ^[7] in 2023, leading to more usage online in mid-2023.

For instance, on June 9th, 2023, X^[8] user @dyingscribe posted the webcomic when quoting a NY Post tweet reading, "I’m a liberal -- it’s hard to find masculine men to date who aren’t conservative," receiving over 35,000 likes in nine months (shown below, left).

In the replies of the tweet,^[8] T-shirt Bot Accounts shared links to "The Most Racist Man Alive" shirts. X^[9] user @saywhatagain highlighted the phenomenon on June 10th, 2023, in a quote reading, "This thread is one of the funniest examples I’ve seen of the t-shirt bot problem on here," receiving over 46,000 likes in nine months (shown below, right).

The comic became an exploitable online as well, evident in a post shared by Redditor^[10] aTotallyRealDuck to /r/BlackMetalMemes on August 19th, 2023, that replaced the top caption with, "Every modern Black metal band," gaining over 200 upvotes in seven months (shown below, left).

The comic was continually referenced in early 2024, evident in a post shared by iFunny^[11] user @TALLRED on March 4th, 2024, which was a photo of a "The Most Racist Man Alive" shirt seemingly in his possession, receiving over 2,900 smiles in a day (shown below, right).
