nHentai is a hentai site that hosts pornographic hentai and doujinshi manga in different translated languages.

Origin

nHentai.net was registered on June 26th, 2014.^[1] While not being the only site to host hentai, the website has gained popularity since its launch in 2014. This is mainly due to other popular sites like FAKKU offering their titles behind pay walls which were not present before. The addition of titles in both its original Japanese language and other languages has made the site grow in popularity not just in English speaking countries but internationally as well. It has the highest rating from The Porn Dude for hentai sites and is considered number 1 with five thumbs up.^[2] The site is based in the Netherlands.

Online Presence

The owner of the website is also very active on Twitter spreading jokes online in order to spread a following similar to Pornhub. Their account often posts memes and communicates with its users through the site.

Conflict with Fakku

One of nHentai's competitors is the website Fakku.net. In 2015, Fakku started to officially license its content and acquire permission from copyright holders of the site's hentais. It also started taking legal action against pirate sites such as Hentai Cafe and Hentai Nexus,^[3] This lead many to believe that nHentai would be targeted next. As of May 2021, no action has so far been taken against nHentai.

6 Digit Codes

One of the main factors in its popularity has been the use of its 6 digits that corresponds to a specific title of hentai. Similar to Reddit's use of "r/" to distinguish subreddits, nHentai uses "g/" followed by a series of six numbers for each title.
