And the meme of January 2024 goes to …
Do you love How to Train Your Dragon? Do you love dancing? Do you love silly little animations? Whether you answered yes or no to any of these questions, we have a meme for you: Dancing Toothless, who swept this month's poll with 24 percent of total votes. The animated creation by Cas van de Pol found much love on TikTok, capturing the mood of vibing against all odds. Keep on dancing for all our sakes, little guy.

Verbalese's $50K Hazbin Hotel AMV
Do you love Hazbin Hotel and silly little animations that a horny YouTuber beatboxer paid $50,000 for? Well, in the second spot this month with 11 percent of your votes we have the infamous $50K Hazbin Hotel AMV commissioned by VerbalAse, the guy behind Cartoon Beatbox Battles and many popular beatbox videos. The video not only went viral but also spawned a couple of meme formats. Notably, VerbalAse taught everyone a thing or two about how to do a public apology, so props to him!
Mr. Fresh
In the third place with ten percent of total votes, please welcome our orange cat of the month, Mr. Fresh aka Side Eye Cat. As featured on the cat feeder camera app Hello Street Cat, Mr. Fresh eats exclusively fresh food, likes to give the camera an occasional side-eye and is generally looking fresh all of the time. He's a hero and an inspiration, honestly, this third place is well-deserved.
Stephen Hawking on Epstein Island
And now for the anti-hero of this month: Stephen Hawking. After the name of the famous theoretical physicist appeared on a piece of private communication between Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, with the former asking to issue a reward for proving that Hawking did not participate in an underage orgy, it's been open season on cracking jokes about the physicist doing all sorts of unspeakable things on Epstein's Island, and nobody's been holding back. Stephen Hawking's alleged misdeeds get fourth place with ten percent of total votes.
Steamboat Willie Enters Public Domain
That's it, folks: the earliest version of Mickey Mouse, the one seen in Disney's 1928 Steamboat Willie cartoon, has entered public domain. This means terrible horror movies featuring a suspiciously familiar mouse (check), indie games (also check), memes (obviously check) and free unlimited screenings of Steamboat Willie for everyone (yay!) Despite us common folk not being able to use any other version of Mickey Mouse for a few decades more, people claiming something from Disney just felt right for many of you, and Steamboat Willie entering public domain gets fifth place with six percent of your votes.
Josh Wine
Can we tempt you with a glass of perfectly chilled vintage Josh Wine, harvest of 2016? The wine with an unusually plebeian name became a viral success on social media earlier this month. But maybe, just maybe this has always been part of the plan for Josh Cellars? Josh lovers, we know there are six percent of you, please tell us what you think.
And now for the memes that just didn't have that dog in them to earn them votes and deserve a proper mention here (feel free to find much more in their respective entries, though!): Jewish tunnels in NYC (5%), imagining if Ninja got a low taper fade (4%), finding out what you would look like if you were Black or Chinese (4%), the world of adventure of Palworld (4%), the scenic Chicago rat hole (4%), the Stanley Cup cult (4%), Chinese Beaver (3%) and Loopy Plushie (2%) forming a ship of our lifetimes, that one inaccessible foyer landing (2%), the chin-focused Akakichi no Eleven redraws (1%), the TikTok-approved Orange Peel Theory (1%), and packing that lip with Zyn (<1%).
Thank you for voting and see you all next month!
